P6 Scheduling for Brooklyn Battery Tunnel Rehabilitation, NY

The Brooklyn Battery Tunnel was slated for rehabilitation before Hurricane Sandy. After the storm, the tunnel was inundated with salt water, that destroyed sensitive control and monitoring systems, which are at least as sophisticated as those found in any modern skyscraper. Much of the fiber optic cabling and sensitive monitoring systems will have to be temped out, and replaced with new control systems, to include tunnel ventilation, tunnel lighting, traffic safety, drainage pumps, and communications.

The fiber optic loops in both tunnels must be established, and integrated before the rehabilitation can begin in one tube. I estimate the work may take about 4.5 years. The reason being that work is limited to 5 nightly closures of one tube at a time, and only 5 hours on-task, to account for mobilization/demobilization.

RepOne was hired to conduct P6 Scheduling services for the project. We generated the preliminary and baseline schedule, from NTP, through substantial completion.
